Edelsbach is located in the valley of a stream of the same name, a tributary of the Raab. The name Edelsbach has undergone a numer of changes in
the course of the village's history. According to oral tradition, Edlesbach was once known as Erlenbach (Erle = alder; Bach = brook), because many alders grew next to the stream.

Despite its small size, the village of Edelsbach still enjoys the advantages of good infrastructure, with small stores, a bakery, a butcher, a restaurant, a bank, a kindergarten, an elementary school, and a Roman Catholic church. Furthermore, Edelsbach is also known for the high quality of life it offers its residents.

Edelsbach bei Feldbach (the community's full name) consists of the cadastral communities of Edelsbach, Kaag and Rohr, which at one time were independent villages.  In 1951 Kaag merged with the community of Edelsbach, followed by Rohr in 1968.

The community's crest depicts alders, a reference to the community's name, and crossed bulrushes, which represent Rohr and Kaag. The creek stands for the Edelsbach Brook.

Edelsbach is easy to reach via highway B 68, turning north in Paurach where Edelsbach is clearly signposted.
